MWSnap screenshot

Very handy little programme for taking screenshots. Easy to use and no installation required if you download the zip version, just open the exe file. MWSnap can capture the whole desktop, a highlighted window, an active menu, or a fixed or free rectangular part of the screen. Images can be saved in jpg, bmp, gif, tiff or png formats. MWSnap is available in many languages too.

You can save screenshots to a file on your pc that can be, amongst other things, attaached to an email. MWSnap does other things as well. You can print your screenshot, use the ruler for measuring screen items, magnify parts of your screen, and there is a color picker showing screen colors with separated RGB parts. You can also add frames and/or a mouse pointer to your captured shots.

I have discovered another use for MWSnap which probably applies to any screen capture method. Open a large image such as a photo saved at a high resolution or bmp and take a screenshot of it. You will find the capture results in a far smaller file size which is great for emailing without having to go to much trouble.
